From the About Section
Grandchildren should give architects pause. Required for a civilized society is the importance of Family.
Family, as I use the term, is the helpful observation of Confucius. In 1984, when I was last in China, a visit to Confucius’s birthplace was restricted. Times change. Now Confucius’s birthplace is a tourist attraction.
Joanna,my elder daughter, is due to give birth April 5th. As I plan to celebrate the first Passover sedar in Metropolitan Washington DC holding my granddaughter in my arms, I take a new Patric-Geddes-like view of my hometown. After considerations of moving, I have concluded that State College, PA is where I will live the rest of my life.
My view is that global architects might be interested in my rational. Consider that as a “Baby Boomer”, I am a part of the largest generation in the world.
Stay tuned for the return of my column for e-architect UK for the cataclysmic effect my generation will have on the building community. Sadly, too much time has passed since I last published my column.
