NOUN

Pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune. —Oxford Dictionaries

Schadenfreude (/ˈʃɑːdənfrɔɪd/; German:[ˈʃaːdn̩ˌfʁɔʏ̯də]; lit. ‘harm-joy’) is pleasure derived from the misfortune of others. Borrowed from German into English and several other languages, it is a feeling of joy that comes from seeing or hearing about another person’s troubles or failures. It is similar in meaning to the English term “gloating”, an expression of pleasure or self-satisfaction at one’s own success or another’s failure.

Summation

The kind of talent Mariah Carey possesses is a gift from God. Sadly, she is tawdry in the contemptuous way she treats her gift. Her expletive substitute for an apology compounds the absence of humility. The New York Times describes her New Year’s Eve performance as a “train wreck.” 2017 got off to a good start if Mariah Carey learns something.

Officially, Mariah Carey’s “performance” was a train wreck. The New York Times is after all the newspaper of record.

“Mariah Carey suffered through a performance train wreck in Times Square on New Year’s Eve as malfunctions left her at a loss vocally during her hit song “Emotions,” struggling to reach notes and to sync the lyrics and music.

“The trouble continued when she gave up on another of her best-known numbers, “We Belong Together,” while a recording of the song continued to play, a confirmation that she had been lip-syncing.”

‘Mariah Carey just summed up 2016!’ Diva botches New Year’s Eve lip-sync performance and STORMS OFF Times Square stage while crying into mic: ‘I wanted a holiday too. Can’t I just have one?’

The superstar singer threw a tantrum on stage and stormed off after her opening song was ruined by a glitch.
‘Trying to be a good sport here,’ Mariah said as the glitch continued throughout her two-song performance.

Humility is an admirable train–especially for a performer with talent and pulchritude. This prominent photograph on Mariah Carey’s Twitter profile indicates the diva lacks good taste. Perhaps, her New Year’s Eve train wreck (which thus far has resulted in more arrogance than one would conceive possible) may yet serve to change her behavior. Perseverence furthers. Lilke a fine wine, this posting will continue to savor the train wreck until Mariah repents or until the bottle is savored.
