Why I begin this full disclosure [see footnote (1)] account with a lie: “Ain’t Nobody’s Business But My Own” can and cannot be explained.
Here the overriding intent is to disclosure my plan for the future which I grandiosely refer to as “my life’s work.”

Today Wednesday September 9, 2015 the official save the date card appeared in my mailbox. The card does not smell of goat cheese. The card provides invited guests with a wedding URL,a contemporary custom Emily Post would have included in her etiquette book.

Now what?
There is other business I must attend to. I would rather continuing blogging. The perhaps off-putting Country music title is a consequence of how this posting began. Originally it began as a recollection of the time I went to music concerts with my daughters.
Joanna, for instance, dragged me to a rock concert in Berkeley where fans were being carried horizontally over the crowd. The crowd moved the passive body from member to member; hundreds of members ready to catch the fan. I was thrilled; eager to go back for more. Joanna simply became the passive [ha] fan.

Amelia and I attended a big deal concert hosted by Elton John (whose radio show on Beat1 is superb) where U2 had organized live concerts for global broadcast.[Re: U2 My best wishes for a speedy recovery)
We attended a lot [I mean a LOT] of music concerts organized by local stations and we heard a lot of country.
The song described in the posting once seemed a fitting part of Amelia and Javier forthcoming wedding. This one I prefer.

I cannot leave here without expressing my pleasure that my dear friend Adam Phillips will performing the ceremony.
Successfully arrived in the U.S. a relatively complete batch of “save the date cards.” Success was achieved when Amelia and Javier used the Toledo Spain post office and wisely decided not to include goat cheese. After receipt, Diana Bass, mother of the prospective bride, stamped and mailed the cards at the Research Triangle Park (RTP), N.C. post office. In 1990, before Amelia’s first birthday, Diana, Joanna, Amelia and I relocated to NC. Northern Telecom, Canadian-based manufacturer of the first digital telephone switches, hired me to be a technical writer at RTP. The wedding of my younger daughter to a sergeant in the Spanish Army in North Carolina represents a form of harmonic convergence for our family.

The problem with “Save the Date” cards appears to have been solved. Amelia and Javier have prepared a fresh batch of these significant cards to potential recipients of wedding invitations Both cards and forthcoming wedding invitations are now guaranteed NOT to smell like goat cheese.
I have not received my “Save the Date” card telling me what day in August I will be giving away my daughter Amelia in holy matrimony. When I receive my card, you will receive your card. When it comes to sticking a stamp on a stack on envelopes, I will receive my card at the same time you receive yours.

Cheese-related Wedding Update
If you are invited to Amelia and Javier’s wedding in August 2016 in Chapel Hill North Carolina USA, you will receive a “save the date card.” Much discussion went into the formatting of language simply telling the intended recipient the day in August Amelia and Javier will marry.
Amelia sent in bulk the “saved the date” cards to her mother Diana who lives in North Carolina. In Spain, Amelia and Javier would have had to pay a Euro versus a stamp Diana purchases at the Durham post office.
I will not discuss the on-going grievance I have with Amelia for which she seeks forgiveness. At one point, I thought that having Amelia talk to the agricultural attache at the U.S. embassy would be helpful to her.
After getting the name and number of the Madrid based agricultural attaché from Rep. Glenn Thompson’s office, I Skyped Madrid and had a long conversation about agricultural policy with the attaché . I learned that the largest export from Spain to the U.S. is “organic vegetables.” I told the attaché that my daughter would call. Amelia never called.
Had she called, she would not have included cheese in the package that contains the “save the date” cards. Here in the deeply dairy protectionist U.S. sending cheese through the mails is the moral equivalent of sending heroine.
So……………………….The “save the date cards” are currently impounded by the U.S. Customs Service fragrant with the odor of cheese.
Do not worry; be like the sun at mid-day. If an envelope smelling of cheese does not arrive in your mailbox, I will tell you the date anyway.

I first remember going to concerts with Joanna and Amelia in Durham NC. There was a radio station wildly popular with elementary school students. Each of my daughters listened to the station worsiply. I can’t remember the station’s call letters. A camera at Jordan Lake is livestreaming the view of a bald eagle nest. The female laid two eggs around the beginning of March, and the first one hatched Monday afternoon.
The Army Corps of Engineers set up the camera, and there’s a Facebook page.
